‘The Celebrity Traitors’: Everything You Need To Know About The All-Star Castle Game

by Dave Elliott

The time for talk is over… the celebrities are coming to the castle! The fingerless gloves are firmly on as Claudia Winkleman returns to the ‘Traitors’ castle, joined this time by an all-star line-up ready to play the ultimate game of lies, betrayal and backstabbing.

When is ‘The Celebrity Traitors’ on TV and BBC iPlayer?

‘The Celebrity Traitors’ arrives on BBC iPlayer and BBC One from October 2025, with a bumper 70-minute launch episode kicking things off. The new spin on the hit psychological game format will then continue every Wednesday and Thursday night at 9pm, giving fans two helpings of treachery a week.

As Claudia teases:

“We’re incredibly lucky these brilliant people have said yes. I’d love to say we’ll take it easy on them and they’ll just wander round the castle and eat toast for a couple of weeks but that would be a lie.”

What is ‘The Traitors’?

For anyone who has somehow missed the phenomenon, ‘The Traitors’ is a psychological reality game set in a remote Scottish castle. Contestants live together while secretly divided into Faithfuls and Traitors. The Faithfuls must work together to complete missions and build up the prize pot, all while trying to sniff out the hidden Traitors in their midst. The Traitors, meanwhile, work in secret to “murder” the Faithfuls and avoid detection. Each night, the group gathers at the infamous Round Table to accuse, argue and vote out who they think is untrustworthy.

The tension, paranoia and mind games make it one of the most compelling reality formats in years… and now celebrities are stepping into the arena.

Meet the celebrity players

This special version brings together a seriously starry line-up. Comedy fans will be watching Alan Carr, Joe Wilkinson, Lucy Beaumont, Nick Mohammed and Tameka Empson, while actors such as Celia Imrie, Mark Bonnar, Ruth Codd and Stephen Fry add dramatic flair. Music comes courtesy of Cat Burns, Charlotte Church and Paloma Faith, while TV royalty like Jonathan Ross, Kate Garraway and Clare Balding round out the cast. Representing sport is Tom Daley and former England rugby player Joe Marler, with David Olusoga bringing the historian’s eye, and Niko Omilana representing the online generation.

Former contestant Theo Mayne, who joined us on Geektown Radio last week, had some strong views on who might shine:

“I’m in it for Cat Burns. I absolutely love her music and what she does. But standout for me is Alan Carr. I reckon he’s going to be absolutely hilarious, but also very traumatised.”

Theo also warned that the celebrity version could get messy:

“The thing about ‘Celebrity Traitors’ is obviously we know all these people day to day, seeing them on shows and watching their journeys on social media. The Traitors will bring out a different side to them completely… it could even ruin the reputation they’ve got… I think it will cause carnage, because some of these celebrities will know of each other as well. Alliances will be formed. It will be a really good watch.”

What’s the prize?

Unlike the regular series where players fight for themselves, the celebrities are competing for charity. Whoever survives to the end will walk away with a jackpot of up to £100,000 for their chosen cause. With reputations on the line and the castle rules unchanged, this is still the same high-stakes game of manipulation and survival – only with famous faces doing the backstabbing.

The Celebrity Traitors’ premieres Wednesday, 8th October 2025 at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
