First Look: BBC and Prime Video Unveil ‘The Night Manager’ Season 2 with Tom Hiddleston, Diego Calva, Camila Morrone and Olivia Colman

The BBC and Prime Video have revealed the first-look images for the long-awaited second season of The Night Manager, giving fans their first glimpse of Tom Hiddleston’s return as former British intelligence operative Jonathan Pine.

Eight years after its explosive finale became one of the BBC’s biggest dramas of the decade, ‘The Night Manager’ is back with new faces, global locations and a brand-new chapter that pushes the story far beyond John le Carré’s original novel.

Produced by the award-winning studio The Ink Factory (The Pigeon Tunnel, The Little Drummer Girl) in association with Character 7, Demarest Films and 127 Wall, the new series once again promises a mix of intrigue, betrayal and sleek international espionage.

The Story So Far

When audiences last saw Jonathan Pine, he had risked everything to bring down arms dealer Richard Roper. In the upcoming series, Pine is living under the alias Alex Goodwin, a low-level MI6 officer running a quiet surveillance unit in London. His new life is uneventful, even dull,

until a chance encounter with one of Roper’s old mercenaries drags him back into the shadows.

That chance sighting leads Pine into a deadly web centred around Colombian businessman Teddy Dos Santos, played by Diego Calva (Babylon, Narcos: Mexico). Partnering with Camila Morrone (Daisy Jones & The Six) as Roxana Bolaños, a reluctant ally with her own secrets, Pine infiltrates Teddy’s arms operation and finds himself caught in a conspiracy to destabilise an entire nation.

Returning Favourites and New Faces

Alongside Hiddleston’s return, ‘The Night Manager’ reunites audiences with several familiar faces from the acclaimed first series, including Olivia Colman (The Favourite, The Crown) as Angela Burr, Alistair Petrie (Sex Education, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) as Sandy Langbourne, Douglas Hodge (Joker, Black Mirror) as Rex Mayhew, Michael Nardone (Traces, Rome) as Frisky, and Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place, Honey Boy) as Daniel Roper.

Joining the ensemble for season two are Indira Varma (Obsession, Obi-Wan Kenobi) as Mayra, Paul Chahidi (Wicked Little Letters, The Serpent Queen) as Basil, and Hayley Squires (Adult Material, Beau Is Afraid) as Sally.

Behind the Camera

The second season is created and executive produced by David Farr, based on le Carré’s characters, and directed in full by BAFTA winner Georgi Banks-Davies (I Hate Suzie, Paper Girls). This marks the first time the series has ventured beyond the events of le Carré’s novel, expanding the espionage world Pine inhabits into new and unpredictable territory.

Executive producers include Stephen Garrett for Character 7, Stephen and Simon Cornwell, Michele Wolkoff, and Tessa Inkelaar for The Ink Factory; Joe Tsai and Arthur Wang for 127 Wall; Adrián Guerra for Nostromo Pictures; Georgi Banks-Davies, Hugh Laurie, and Tom Hiddleston; William D. Johnson for Demarest Films; Nick Cornwell representing the John le Carré estate; Susanne Bier, Chris Rice for FIFTH SEASON, and Gaynor Holmes for the BBC.

A Global Operation

Filmed across the UK, Spain, Colombia and France, ‘The Night Manager’ continues the series’ reputation for cinematic scale and authenticity. FIFTH SEASON is handling worldwide distribution, with the show set to premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK, and on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

The first series of ‘The Night Manager’ was a global phenomenon, earning more than 30 nominations and winning multiple BAFTAs, Emmys and Golden Globes, including Best Actor for Tom Hiddleston. In 2016, it became one of the BBC’s most-watched dramas of the decade, and its return is already one of the most talked-about television events of 2025.

The Night Manager’ Season 2 will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK, and on Prime Video internationally. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
