Sky Unveils Tense Teaser Trailer For ‘Prisoner’ Starring Tahar Rahim And Izuka Hoyle

by Dave Elliott

Sky has released a pulse-racing teaser trailer for Prisoner, offering the first proper taste of its upcoming six-part thriller led by Tahar Rahim and Izuka Hoyle. Set to arrive in 2026, the series looks like a breathless game of pursuit that wastes absolutely no time getting its characters into trouble.

The teaser throws us straight into chaos. Hoyle plays Amber, a young and principled prison transport officer tasked with escorting Tibor, a high-value inmate and trained killer portrayed by Rahim. What should be a tightly controlled transfer spirals into disaster when the convoy is violently ambushed, leaving Amber and Tibor handcuffed together and on the run, with a criminal syndicate closing in fast.

The footage leans hard into tension and momentum. Empty roads, sudden violence, frantic escapes and a growing sense that trust is a luxury neither of them can afford. Amber is forced to confront how far she is willing to go to survive, while Tibor remains an ever-present threat, even as he becomes her only possible protection. The teaser smartly keeps its cards close, but the central dilemma is clear. Every choice has consequences, and standing still is not one of the options.

Alongside Rahim and Hoyle, the series boasts a strong supporting cast including Eddie Marsan (Back to Black, The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe), Catherine McCormack (Lockerbie: A Search for Truth, 28 Weeks Later), Leonie Benesch (September 5, Babylon Berlin), Finn Bennett (Black Doves, True Detective), Sam Troughton (Lockerbie: A Search for Truth, Black Doves), Laurie Davidson (The Girlfriend, Mary & George), Ken Nwosu (Black Doves, Sticks and Stones), Brían F. O’Byrne (Conclave, The Wonder), and Youssef Kerkour (Lockerbie: A Search For Truth).

‘Prisoner’ is created and written by Matt Charman (Hostage, Bridge of Spies), with direction from Otto Bathurst (Peaky Blinders). If the teaser is anything to go by, the series is aiming for a relentless mix of character-driven drama and high-stakes action that escalates with every mile.

Prisoner’ does not yet have a premiere date, but will air on Sky and NOW in the UK. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
