‘Sky One’ Returns As Sky Rebrands Entertainment Line-Up Ahead Of Major Streaming Shift

by Dave Elliott

Sky has announced the return of ‘Sky One’, reviving the iconic channel name as the new home for its comedy and entertainment programming. The relaunched channel arrives later this month, replacing both Sky Showcase and Sky Max, and aims to pull Sky’s biggest crowd-pleasers into one clear destination.

According to the official announcement, ‘Sky One’ will bring together new Sky Originals and established favourites under one banner. The line-up includes brand-new shows such as The Dyers’ Caravan Park and Gemma Collins: Four Weddings and a Baby, alongside returning hits including Rob & Romesh Vs.., The Paper and Ted. The channel will also become the UK broadcast home of Saturday Night Live UK, which is set to launch later this year.

Speaking about the relaunch, Carli Kerr, MD of Sky TV & NOW, said:
“Our goal is to make it easier than ever for Sky TV customers to find and enjoy the shows they love,” said Carli Kerr, MD of Sky TV & NOW. “Building on the iconic heritage of Sky One, the channel will be a one-of-a-kind destination that’s big, bold and bursting with energy, bringing together brand-new Sky Originals like The Dyers’ Caravan Park, returning favourites such as Rob & Romesh Vs., and serving as the home of the highly anticipated Saturday Night Live UK.”

While Sky does not explicitly say so in the press release, the timing of the rebrand is unlikely to be accidental. With HBO Max launching in the UK in March 2026 and being integrated into Sky services, keeping both Sky Max and HBO Max on the same platform could have been confusing for customers. Under the new arrangement, Sky TV and NOW Entertainment subscribers are expected to receive the ad-supported tier of HBO Max as part of their existing package, similar to Sky’s long-standing Netflix integration. In that context, folding Sky Max into a revived Sky One makes a lot of strategic sense.

It is also notable what Sky has chosen not to retire. There had been speculation that the arrival of HBO Max UK might spell the end for Sky Atlantic and Sky Comedy, both of which currently carry a significant amount of HBO content. For now, at least, those channels remain part of Sky’s wider portfolio, suggesting a more gradual transition rather than a clean break.

The relaunch does come with some behind-the-scenes reshuffling. Sky has confirmed a number of channel number changes across Sky Q, Sky Glass and Sky Stream, although Sky says customers will not lose access to any existing content from Sky Showcase or Sky Max, which will continue to be available on demand.

‘Sky One’ launches on Tuesday, 24th February 2026 on channel 106.

For Sky Q: Sky Comedy moves to channel 113, Sky Documentaries moves to channel 114, Sky Crime moves to channel 121, Sky Arts moves to channel 122, Challenge moves to 130, Sky Sci-Fi moves to channel 145, and Sky Nature moves to channel 124.

For Sky Glass and Stream: Sky Comedy moves to channel 109, Sky Documentaries moves to channel 110, Sky Crime moves to channel 111, Sky Arts moves to channel 112, Challenge moves to channel 116, and Sky Sci-Fi moves to channel 114.

Guess I will not be visiting that channel, I hate contrived ‘comedy’.
