Victorian sleuth ‘Miss Scarlet‘ returns to UK screens this March, as U&Alibi has confirmed the premiere date for Season 6 of the much-loved period detective drama. Kate Phillips (Peaky Blinders) is back in the lead role as Eliza Scarlet, with Tom Durant-Pritchard (The Forsytes) returning as Detective Inspector Alexander Blake, as the pair head into a new run of cases… and an increasingly complicated personal relationship.
Season 6 picks up after the closing moments of the previous run, which left fans with Alexander inviting Eliza into his home. That set up a new chapter for the pair, and the new season leans into that shifting dynamic as they try to navigate feelings, secrets, and plenty of fresh mysteries across Victorian London. Eliza may have become an expert crime-solver, but when it comes to matters of the heart, she is still very much learning on the job.
Alongside Phillips and Durant-Pritchard, the returning cast includes Cathy Belton (Philomena) as Ivy, Eliza’s housekeeper and mother figure, Paul Bazely (Benidorm) as Clarence, Simon Ludders (Broadchurch) as Mr. Potts, and Felix Scott (The Archers) as Patrick Nash.
The official synopsis for the new season sees Eliza trying to balance a thriving detective business with a personal life entering unfamiliar territory, as she attempts to build a relationship with Blake. That juggling act looks set to be tested immediately in the opening episode, “Secrets and Lies”, which follows a case rooted in the fledgling world of psychiatry. A violent psychiatric patient is on the loose, leaving behind a murder, a mystery, and an unidentified body, leading Blake to hire Eliza to help solve the case.
It also arrives as fans already know the end is on the horizon. It was recently confirmed that ‘Miss Scarlet’ will conclude with its upcoming seventh season, which has already begun filming. So while Season 6 brings another batch of mysteries and character drama, it also marks the beginning of the final stretch for one of the more distinctive period crime dramas on TV.
