It’s been a long wait, but ‘Ted Lasso’ is finally heading back onto the pitch this August, with Apple TV confirming the return date for the beloved comedy and releasing the first teaser for season 4.
The new run picks up with Ted returning to Richmond for what Apple is calling his biggest challenge yet, coaching a second division women’s football team. That feels like a smart way to reopen the world of ‘Ted Lasso’ without just trying to replay the same old match, and it also pays off one of the ideas teased towards the end of the previous season.
Jason Sudeikis (Shrinking) returns in the title role, with Hannah Waddingham (Sex Education), Juno Temple (Fargo), Brett Goldstein (Shrinking), Brendan Hunt (Bless This Mess) and Jeremy Swift (Downton Abbey) also back for the new season. Joining them are Tanya Reynolds (Sex Education), Jude Mack (I Hate Suzie), Faye Marsay (Andor), Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey (Heirs of the Night), Abbie Hern (My Lady Jane) and Grant Feely (Obi-Wan Kenobi).
Apple is keeping most of the finer plot details under wraps for now, but the official synopsis says Ted and the team will be learning to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would. Which, to be fair, sounds exactly like the sort of relentlessly optimistic chaos ‘Ted Lasso’ has always thrived on.
Behind the scenes, there’s a notable addition too, with Jack Burditt (Nobody Wants This) joining as executive producer under his overall deal with Apple TV. Sudeikis also executive produces alongside Hunt, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee and Bill Wrubel, while Goldstein continues as both writer and executive producer.
The series remains one of Apple’s biggest breakout hits, becoming an awards juggernaut almost immediately after launch and landing back-to-back Outstanding Comedy Series wins at the Emmys for its first two seasons. So yes, expectations are probably just a little bit high for this return.
The newly released teaser is short, but it does offer that first proper glimpse of the next chapter, and that alone will probably be enough to get ‘Ted Lasso’ fans very excited.
‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4 premieres Wednesday, 5th August 2026 on Apple TV.
