AMC has renewed ‘Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire’ for a fourth season, with the next chapter officially titled ‘Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned’. The announcement arrives just as UK viewers prepare to sink their teeth into Season 3, ‘The Vampire Lestat’, which begins on BBC Two later this month.
The renewal was unveiled during AMC’s Comic-Con International Hall H panel in San Diego. Executive producers Mark Johnson and Hannah Moscovitch were joined by cast members Jacob Anderson (Game of Thrones), Assad Zaman (Hotel Portofino), Eric Bogosian (Succession) and Sheila Atim (The Woman King), with fans also getting their first teaser for the fourth season.
As the title suggests, Season 4 will adapt Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned, the third novel in The Vampire Chronicles, following Interview with the Vampire and The Vampire Lestat. The story will see the established characters confronting Akasha, the ancient and extremely powerful Queen of the Vampires, with the fate of both their world and ours hanging in the balance.
Hannah Moscovitch will take over as showrunner for the new season, while also executive producing alongside Mark Johnson and Rolin Jones. Moscovitch previously wrote on the first two seasons of ‘Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire’ and served as an executive producer on ‘The Vampire Lestat’, where she specifically wrote the Akasha and Gabriella characters.

‘The Vampire Lestat’ stars Sam Reid (The Newsreader), Jacob Anderson (Game of Thrones), Assad Zaman (Hotel Portofino), Eric Bogosian (Succession), Sheila Atim (The Woman King), Delainey Hayles (Too Close) and Jennifer Ehle (Pride and Prejudice). The season is executive produced by Mark Johnson, creator, writer and showrunner Rolin Jones, Hannah Moscovitch, Christopher Rice and the late Anne Rice.
This will not be the first time Queen of the Damned has reached the screen. The novel was previously adapted as a 2002 film starring Aaliyah (Romeo Must Die) as Akasha and Stuart Townsend (The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) as Lestat. However, AMC’s version will be able to tackle the story as part of the wider Anne Rice Immortal Universe, building directly on the characters and mythology established across the previous seasons.
There is no word yet on when ‘Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned’ will premiere in either the UK or the US.
