Apple TV has taken its first dive into cyberspace with the debut teaser for ‘Neuromancer’, its highly anticipated adaptation of William Gibson’s landmark science fiction novel. Unveiled during San Diego Comic-Con, the 10-episode cyberpunk series will premiere globally in January 2027.
Callum Turner (Masters of the Air) stars as Case, a damaged but elite super-hacker who is pulled into a dangerous web of digital espionage and high-stakes crime. He is joined by Briana Middleton (Sharper) as Molly, a razor-girl assassin who partners with Case on an ambitious heist targeting a powerful corporate dynasty with some extremely well-protected secrets.
Turner made a surprise virtual appearance during Apple TV’s Comic-Con panel to introduce the first teaser. ‘Neuromancer’ will launch with two episodes, followed by one new episode every Friday.
The cast also includes Mark Strong (The Penguin), Joseph Lee (Beef), Peter Sarsgaard (Presumed Innocent) and Clémence Poésy (The Tunnel).
The wider ensemble features Max Irons (Condor), Dane DeHaan (ZeroZeroZero), Emma Laird (Mayor of Kingstown), Marc Menchaca (Ozark) and André De Shields (The Gilded Age), alongside Junia Rees, Jordan Kouamé and Isabella Pappas.
Graham Roland and JD Dillard created the series for television, with Roland also serving as showrunner. Dillard directs the opening three episodes, while William Gibson is among the executive producers. Paramount Television Studios and Anonymous Content produce the series.
First published in 1984, Gibson’s Neuromancer became one of the defining novels of the cyberpunk genre. It won the Hugo Award, Nebula Award and Philip K. Dick Award, and launched the “Sprawl” trilogy, which continued with Count Zero and Mona Lisa Overdrive.
Given how much modern cyberpunk can trace its digital fingerprints back to Gibson’s work, this is one adaptation carrying a fairly intimidating legacy. However, the combination of its impressive cast, high-tech espionage and corporate skulduggery suggests Apple TV could have another major science fiction series on its hands.
‘Neuromancer’ Season 1 premieres Friday, 22nd January 2027 on Apple TV, with two episodes followed by new episodes every Friday.
