Paramount+ has unveiled the first-look images from ‘Treasure Island‘, its upcoming six-part adventure series starring Hayley Atwell (Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Avengers: Doomsday) and David Oyelowo (Silo, Selma), which sets sail on the streaming service in the UK & Ireland this October.
The new series puts a fresh spin on Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic story, with Bess Hawkins and her son Jim finding themselves thrown into a dangerous hunt for Captain Flint’s legendary treasure. Tom Sweet (Great Expectations) stars as Jim Hawkins, alongside Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire, Day of the Fight) as Aaron Graham and Tomer Capone (The Boys, Fauda) as Billy Bones.
When Jim and his fiercely determined mother Bess come into possession of the legendary treasure map, the pair are swept into a brutal race for unimaginable riches. Their journey takes them across the Atlantic aboard the Hispaniola, where Jim finds himself caught in a world of shifting loyalties, ruthless ambition and deadly secrets.
At the centre of the expedition is Long John Silver, a charismatic and deeply complex survivor whose ambitions force Jim to question who he can trust. As the hunt intensifies, the search for treasure becomes a battle between loyalty and ambition that could change them all forever.
Also starring are Craige Els (Andor) as Mr Arrow, Tristan Sturrock (Poldark) as Captain Smollett and Neil Pendleton (Outlander) as Mr Cameron.
‘Treasure Island’ is a Paramount+ Original Series in association with MGM+ and FIFTH SEASON, produced by BAFTA and Golden Globe-winning Playground. It was created for television by Robert Murphy (Vera, Shetland), with Jeremy Lovering (Slow Horses, The One), William McGregor (The Buccaneers, Lockwood & Co., His Dark Materials) and Paul Walker (Shameless, Riviera, Hunting Alice Bell) directing. Mark Hedges serves as producer.
The series will debut first on MGM+ in the U.S., followed by Paramount+ in the UK & Ireland the next day, with new episodes released weekly. The season finale lands in mid-November in both territories.
