Filming has started on BBC Two and Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming 6-part series ‘Good Omens‘, based on the novel by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman.
To celebrate the start of principal photography, Gaiman, who is writing the series and will serve as showrunner, posted the following to Twitter:
They are amazing. This is them in the opening scenes, 11 years ago, in St James’s Park. David and Michael, demon & angel. #GoodOmens pic.twitter.com/ceK4XYY881

Sheen takes the role of the angel Aziraphale and Tennant plays the demon Crowley, who both find themselves, reluctantly, caught in a war between Good and Evil, when all they really want to do is carry on living out their lives on Earth. This show will be filming for the next 6 months in London, Oxfordshire, and locations in South Africa.
“People have fallen in love with an angel and a demon in a book by Terry Pratchett and me, and they have been excited and nervous to see how they would appear on screen – and I was probably the most nervous and excited of all,” comments Gaiman. “This is a first look. Michael Sheen is the best and finest of bookseller angels, David Tennant the coolest and most delightful of demons. Together they are one hell of a double act (or do I mean one made in Heaven?)”
Joining Sheen and Tennant in the cast are Adria Arjona (Anathema Device), Nina Sosanya (Sister Mary Loquacious), Jack Whitehall (Newt), Michael McKean (Shadwell), Miranda Richardson (Madame Tracy), Ned Dennehy (Hastur) and Ariyon Bakare (Ligur).
‘Good Omens‘ is a co-production between Amazon and the BBC, so will air in 2019 across 200 countries (including the UK) on Amazon Prime Video first, then come to BBC Two at a later date.
