We might not have an exact release date for the Apple TV+ service (other than “Autumn”), but they have just dropped the first official trailer for any of the series to be featured on there. At the annual Worldwide Developers Conference today, they showed the trailer for upcoming alt-history space drama ‘For All Mankind‘, from Ronald D. Moore starring Joel Kinnaman.
From Ronald D. Moore, the man behind the ‘Battlestar Galactica’ reboot and ‘Outlander’, ‘For All Mankind’ is set in an aspirational world where NASA astronauts, engineers and their families find themselves in the centre of extraordinary events seen through the prism of an alternate history timeline – a world in which the USSR beats the U.S. to the moon.
Whilst Season 1 kicks off in the ’60s and ’70s, if it does go on to more seasons (which seems likely), it will continue to move forward in this alt-history. This single event could set off a chain reaction which totally changes how our history develops through to present day and beyond.
Joel Kinnaman (‘The Killing’, ‘Altered Carbon’) leads the cast alongside Michael Dorman (‘Patriot’), Sarah Jones (‘The Path’), Shantel VanSanten (‘Shooter’), Wrenn Schmidt (‘Outcast’) and Jodi Balfour (‘Quarry’).
The series is created and written by Moore, with Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi (‘The Umbrella Academy’, ‘Fargo’). Sony Pictures Television and Tall Ship Productions serve as the production companies.
Apple TV+ launches in the Autumn, and we assume ‘For All Mankind‘ will be available then.
