Arrowverse Gets A New Atom – Supernatural’s Osric Chau Joins Crisis Event As Ryan Choi

The Arrowverse is gaining a new Atom, as it is announced ‘Supernatural’s Osric Chau will appear in the ‘Crisis On Infinite Earths’ crossover event has DC’s other current Atom, Ryan Choi.

For those of you that don’t keep up with the DC Comics, there are currently two Atoms working out there in the DC comic book universe. Created by Gail Simone and Grant Morrison, Born in Hong Kong, Ryan Choi is a protégé of Ray Palmer and had been corresponding with him via letters. When Palmer mysteriously vanishes, Choi emigrated to the United States and takes up his idol’s former position at Ivy University. Once there, he discovers Palmer’s Atom belt and takes over the mantle. He does eventually find Palmer again, who has been missing in the Microverse. It looks like the tv series will follow a similar plotline, with Choi being a physics professor at Ivy University. He starts out as just a normal guy but learns that he has a pivotal role to play in the upcoming crisis.

This seems like an obvious character to add into the Arrowverse, given that it was announced *WARNING SPOILERS* that OG team member Brandon Routh, who stars as Ray Palmer/Atom, and Courtney Ford, who plays Nora Darhk, would both be leaving ‘DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow‘. It is not clear at the moment if they will keep Ryan Choi around past ‘Crisis’ to join the Legends team, but that would be an understandable next step.

Osric Chau is best known for his role on ‘Supernatural’ as Kevin Tran, whose life was turned upside down when he became a Prophet. He previously appeared as Vogel in the BBC America series ‘Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency’, and Amazon Prime series ‘Demon X’.

The ‘Crisis On Infinite Earths’ crossover is going to be packed full of new and old faces. It will feature all the main players from the five Arrowverse shows, plus they have also confirmed ‘Black Lightning’ will join in the fun for the first time. Other guest spots include legendary ‘Batman’ voice actor Kevin Conroy finally getting to play the role in live-action, along with Johnathon Schaech returning as Jonah Hex, Jon Cryer as Lex Luthor, LaMonica Garrett as the Monitor/Anti-Monitor, and John Wesley Shipp who will reprise his role as the original 90’s tv show Barry Allen and Arrowverse’s Jay Garrick. Most recently, they have added Erica Durance, who joins Tom Welling once again as ‘Smallville’s Lois and Clark. They have even roped in original ‘Batman ’66’ Robin actor Burt Ward, although it is not clear who he will be playing. If that isn’t enough, ‘The Flash’s “man of many Wells” Tom Cavanagh is taking on yet another role as Pariah, whose unorthodox experiments to view the creation of the universe result in the Anti-Monitor, and launch the Crisis.

As you may already know, the crossover gets its name from a major DC comic book event written in the 80s by Marv Wolfman and pencilled by George Pérez. The storyline had a massive impact on the entire DC Universe, as it collapses the multiverse, unifying all the Earths onto a single plane of existence. ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’ will span five episodes from ‘Arrow’‘The Flash’‘Supergirl’‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’, and the new ‘Batwoman’ series.

‘Arrow’‘The Flash’ and ‘Supergirl’ are all set to premiere in Autumn 2019 on Sky One in the UK (‘Legends of Tomorrow’ doesn’t air until 2020 in the US, so will be later here too.) What is unclear is the status of the ‘Batwoman’, as Sky has yet to confirm a pick-up, but we’ll let you know when we hear something.
