Shot through with whip-smart humour, this mischievous and characterful blend of funny and frantic takes female storytelling to a refreshing and dynamic new level. A second season has been ordered, although may not land until late 2023/early 2024.

Winner: After Life, Season 3 – Netflix

It was really interesting watching the results come in for this category, as the top three positions flipped back and forth a lot. However, there can only be one winner, and it is Ricky Gervais with the third and final season of his hilarious and heartbreaking critically-acclaimed series After Life.

Set in the small fictitious town of Tambury, the comedy-drama series follows Tony (Gervais), a writer for the local newspaper whose life is upended after his wife dies from cancer. In the final season, Tony is still desperately mourning the loss of his wife, Lisa, wondering if he with ever truly embrace the future if he can’t let go of the past. He soon starts to realise that making other people feel good is what can give him hope and a reason to live. After all, every end is a new beginning.

Much like his previous work, Ricky brought the series to a beautiful and heartfelt conclusion. Whilst there are no signs yet of another tv series in the works, he is back out doing stand-up with his new show ‘Armageddon’.
