Sky Releases “First Looks” At ‘Lazarus Project’ Season 2, ‘The Lovers’, ‘A Town Called Malice’ & ‘Then You Run’

Sky has released some “first look” trailers and images for a set of upcoming dramas due to land in 2023, including The Lazarus Project‘ Season 2, The Lovers, A Town Called Malice & Then You Run.

“This year we are showcasing some of the most distinct and provocative original storytelling, featuring a compelling line-up of UK and international talent both in front of and behind the camera,” said Meghan Lyvers, Director of Original Drama, UK and Ireland at Sky Studios. “From propulsive action series to nostalgic, crime-soaked thrillers, to incredible prestigious dramas inspired by real events, there is truly something for everyone on Sky in 2023.”

A Town Called Malice – Sky Max & NOW – 16th March 2023

Sky describe A Town Called Malice as what would happen if “‘Dallas’ made love to ‘Pulp Fiction’ to the sounds of Duran Duran, they’d give birth to this intoxicating cocktail of crime thriller, family saga and a musical love letter to the ’80s.”

The series follows a family of South London gangsters – the Lords – who realise that fleeing to the Costa Del Sol might, in fact, present a golden opportunity to reinvent themselves. However, in this series full of romance, obsession, violence, deceit, and swagger, the Lords spend as much time battling each other as they do their opponents.

Written and created by Nick Love, the series stars Jack Rowan, Jason Flemyng, Martha Plimpton and Tahirah Sharif.

The Lovers – Sky Atlantic & NOW – 2023

‘The Lovers’, written by award-winning playwright David Ireland and directed by BAFTA-winning Justin Martin. The dramedy will follow the journey of the love-struck, oddly paired duo, Seamus and Janet, played by Johnny Flynn (‘Beast’, ‘Emma’) and Roisin Gallagher (‘The Fall’, ‘The Dry’).

When Seamus unexpectedly drops into Janet’s world they instantly clash – and yet also find themselves inextricably drawn to each other… Set in Belfast, this is a sexy, funny, fight-y love story about two people who appear to be utterly wrong for each other – yet may just be utterly right.

Then You Run – Sky Max & NOW – 2023

The bold new, eight-part limited series Then You Run, is based on Zoran Drvenkar’s thriller novel, You.

Rising star talent Leah McNamara, Vivian Oparah, Yasmin Monet Prince and Isidora Fairhurst, take on the roles of a close-knit group of rebellious London teenagers who are on a getaway in Rotterdam – but after the estranged father of Tara (McNamara) is discovered dead, they find themselves on the run across Europe with three kilos of heroin and a host of deadly criminals snapping at their heels.

The Lazarus Project, Season 2 – Sky Max & NOW – 2023

The last reveal features a number of images for season two of the utterly brilliant, time-bending, sci-fi drama The Lazarus Project, which returns later this year.

‘The Lazarus Project’ follows George (Paapa Essiedu – ‘Gangs of London’) who wakes up one day and finds himself reliving a day from months ago, he thinks he’s lost his mind. All of his recent milestones have been undone, including his success at work and his marriage to the love of his life Sarah (Charly Clive – ‘Pure’). Worst of all, he seems to be the only one who has noticed what’s happened. That is until he meets Archie (Anjli Mohindra – ‘Vigil’, ‘Bodyguard’), who recruits George for the Lazarus Project – a secret organisation that has harnessed the ability to turn back time every time the world is at threat of extinction.

The second season sees Paapa Essiedu, Charly Clive, Rudi Dharmalingam, Anjli Mohindra and Caroline Quentin return to the action-packed series, written by BAFTA-nominated Joe Barton and Howard Overman.

In addition to the drama reveals today, Sky previously dropped some more information about a number of comedy series coming to the broadcaster, which you can find out more about here. If you want to keep track of these or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when they get a UK premiere date.
