Paramount+ has renewed psychological thriller The Ex-Wife for a 2nd Season with Tom Mison, Celine Buckens, and Jordan Stephens set to return, joined by Katie McGrath.

The first season of the drama followed Tasha (Buckens) who is living the dream: she has the perfect house, a loving husband, Jack (Mison), and a beautiful little girl. But there’s one large blot on Tasha’s marital landscape, her husband’s ex-wife, Jen, who won’t leave them alone and seems intent on staying in the picture. When Tasha returns home one day to find her life turned upside down, she realises that the dream she is living may be about to turn into a nightmare.

“I am thrilled to be teaming up with Clapperboard, Blackbox Media and Night Train again for a second series of The Ex-Wife,” commented Sebastian Cardwell, Deputy Chief Content Officer, UK, Paramount. “The first series was a huge success and this time we promise viewers even more twists and turns! I can’t wait to see this incredible cast bring the next instalment of this drama to life.”

The second season picks up three years after the dramatic conclusion of series one, with Tasha now hiding in Cyprus with her daughter Emily (Liberty Miller: Malpractice), while Jen has moved on and is preparing to walk down the aisle for a second time.

Living under false identities, Tasha has started a new life for herself and Emily. However, Tasha is forced to abandon her fresh start when she learns that Jack has been released from prison early – having only served a year of his sentence. Jack appears to be a changed man, grieving the death of his daughter and searching for redemption from a newly engaged Jen.

With the shadow of the past haunting all three characters, attempts at moving on only bring them closer together, but who can each of them really trust, and can anyone truly change?

The second season will see Celine Buckens (Show Trial, War Horse, The Castaways) and Tom Mison (Sleepy Hollow, Watchmen, See) reprising their roles of Tasha and Jack. Jordan Stephens (Tucked, Foundation, Smothered) also returns to play Sam while Katie McGrath (The Continental, Supergirl, Jurassic World) joins the cast, taking over the role of Jen.

The series is a co-production between Clapperboard Studios, Blackbox Multimedia and Night Train Media, who provided international financing and controls worldwide distribution rights with All3Media International. Filming for THE EX-WIFE 2 is underway in Cyprus.

Executive Producer and MD for co-producer Clapperboard Studios Mike Benson added: “Along with our co-pro partners Blackbox and Night Train, we were delighted with the reaction to Series 1 of The Ex-Wife. Series 2 builds on the intrigue and emotional complexity which underpins the characters and plot – but also takes us somewhere unexpected and surprising.

Directed by Paul Walker (Riviera) ‘The Ex-Wife’ Season 2 is written by Polly Buckle (Love Rat), Nessa Muthy (Coronation Street) and David Turpin (The Cuckoo). Executive Producers are Giuliano Papadia and Chiara Cardoso for BlackBox, Mike Benson and Andy Morgan for Clapperboard, Herbert L. Kloiber and Olivia Pahl for Night Train Media, with Kim Crowther serving as series producer. All3Media International handles sales for the title.

The Ex-Wife‘ Season 1 is available on Paramount+ UK right now. If you want to keep track of this or any other show, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when they get a UK premiere date.
