FOX Hit Medical Drama ‘Doc’ Lands UK Premiere Date On Sky Witness And NOW This September

by Dave Elliott

After becoming a smash success in the US earlier this year, Doc is finally scrubbing in for UK audiences this September, with the first season set to debut on Sky Witness and streaming service NOW.

The series stars Molly Parker (House of Cards) as Dr. Amy Larsen, once the formidable Chief of Internal and Family Medicine at Minneapolis’s Westside Hospital. Everything changes when Amy is involved in a car accident that leaves her with a traumatic brain injury, erasing the last eight years of her memory. She wakes up to discover a life she no longer recognises. Her daughter is now a teenager, her colleagues have moved on, and even her closest personal relationships have shifted in ways she cannot comprehend.

Amy has no recollection of the patients she has treated, the colleagues she has clashed with, or the soulmate she divorced. She does not even remember the man she now loves. The only familiar anchor in her life is her estranged daughter, whom she still recalls only as a nine-year-old. Surrounded by a small but loyal circle of friends and family, Amy faces the almost impossible task of rebuilding both her personal and professional world from scratch.

What makes Amy remarkable is that despite losing nearly a decade of experience, she is determined to continue practising medicine. That determination sets the stage for a series that delivers emotional storytelling alongside high-stakes hospital drama. Each episode balances the intensity of medical cases with the fragile process of a woman relearning her own life, resulting in a character-driven drama that feels both heartfelt and gripping.

The cast is a strong one, with Omar Metwally (Big Sky, The Affair) as Dr. Michael Hamda, the Chief Medical Officer and Amy’s ex-husband. Jon Ecker (Firefly Lane) plays Dr. Jake Heller, the ambitious Chief Resident who shares a complicated bond with Amy. Amirah Vann (How to Get Away with Murder) appears as Dr. Gina Walker, a neuropsychiatrist whose expertise is crucial in helping Amy adapt to her new reality. Anya Banerjee (The Blacklist) portrays Dr. Sonya Maitra, a resident working under Amy’s guidance. Recurring roles are filled by familiar faces such as Scott Wolf (Party of Five, Nancy Drew) and Patrick Walker (Lessons in Chemistry).

When ‘Doc’ premiered in the US on FOX in January 2025, it immediately became one of the breakout hits of the season. Its debut episode drew more than 16 million viewers across platforms, making it FOX’s most-watched launch in over five years. It quickly grew into the network’s most-streamed new series and, thanks to strong ratings and audience buzz, was renewed for a bumper 22-episode second season that will begin in the US later this month.

The drama was developed by Barbie Kligman (Private Practice, The Vampire Diaries) and is produced by Sony Pictures Television and FOX Entertainment Studios. Executive producers include Hank Steinberg of Channel Road Productions and Erwin Stoff of 3 Arts Entertainment. The show is based on the Italian drama Doc – Nelle tue mani, itself inspired by the true story of Dr. Pierdante Piccioni, a chief physician in Italy who lost 12 years of memory following a 2013 accident. This grounding in a true story adds an extra layer of poignancy to the drama, making Amy’s struggles feel both authentic and deeply moving.

Doc‘ Season 1 premieres Wednesday, 17th September 2025 at 9pm on Sky Witness and streaming service NOW.
