Jeremy Strong to Star in ‘9/12,’ a Powerful Paramount+ Drama About the Legal Fight for 9/11’s First Responders

by Dave Elliott

Paramount+ has officially greenlit 9/12, a six-part limited series starring and executive produced by Jeremy Strong (Succession, The Apprentice), with production due to begin in summer 2026 ahead of a global premiere in 2027.

From Tobias Lindholm (The Investigation, A War) and Frank Pugliese (House of Cards), the series tells the remarkable true story of the lawyers and first responders who took on a monumental David vs Goliath battle in the wake of the September 11 attacks. The show is produced by Paramount Television Studios and SISTER, marking the first major project under the new Paramount+ and Paramount Television Studios leadership of Cindy Holland, Jane Wiseman, Dana Goldberg and Matt Thunell.

‘9/12’ dramatises the relentless legal war fought to secure nearly a billion dollars in compensation for those who became gravely ill after their heroic service at Ground Zero. Strong will play Jason Smith, a renowned class-action lawyer who risked everything to take on powerful institutions and expose the greed, corruption, and bureaucratic failures that compounded an already devastating tragedy.

In the press release, Lindholm said:

“Though rooted in the unprecedented attacks of September 11, 2001, 9/12 speaks to struggles that reach far beyond that day. It asks what happens when those who risked everything are abandoned by the very institutions meant to protect them. The series is a testament to human strength and perseverance in the face of unthinkable adversity, the very tension that compelled me to tell this story.”

Strong added:

9/12 is about the best of us, our first responders whose official response time on 9/11 was five seconds. It is about a moment of unity and togetherness in this divided country, when, amidst the wreckage, we rebuilt and rose again from the rubble. But it is also about the ways our institutions failed to respond to those heroes, whom we pledged we would never forget, in their moment of greatest need.”

Jane Wiseman, Head of Originals at Paramount+, said the series “reminds us why storytelling matters,” while Matt Thunell, President of Paramount Television Studios, called it “a heroic underdog story that we know Jeremy will brilliantly bring to life.”

This is shaping up to be a deeply emotional and socially charged drama, bringing together some of the most respected names in television to tell a story about justice, resilience and the ongoing cost of heroism.

9/12’ will begin production in summer 2026 and launch globally on Paramount+ in 2027. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
