First Look At Holliday Grainger As ‘The Capture’ Returns For Season 3 In Spring 2026

by Dave Elliott

The BBC has released a first look at The Capture series three, teasing Holliday Grainger’s return as Rachel Carey and confirming the hit thriller will be back on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in spring 2026. The new image shows Carey in an interview room, leaning against a table with multiple reflections behind her, giving that familiar sense that nothing in her world can be trusted at face value.

The new season once again comes from creator and showrunner Ben Chanan, whose sleek techno-thriller continues to explore the fragile border between truth, perception, surveillance, and political power. Series three picks up twelve months after Carey broadcast a live deepfake of a government minister, exposing the clandestine Correction programme to the British public.

Now Acting Commander of Counter Terrorism Command, Carey is heading up Operation Veritas, a new camera system designed to repair public trust in surveillance technology. It is not long before a devastating and highly coordinated terror attack strikes the heart of the establishment, leaving behind a single witness and a trail of clues pointing to a wider conspiracy that stretches across government, intelligence and the media.

Alongside returning star Grainger, the new season introduces Killian Scott (Strike, Kaos, Dublin Murders) in a major role. Also returning are Indira Varma (Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Holby City) as Khadija Khan, Ben Miles (Coupling, The Crown) as Danny Hart, Lia Williams (The Crown, His Dark Materials) as Gemma Garland, Ginny Holder (Death in Paradise) as DI Nadia Latif, Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Sons of Anarchy) as Frank Napier, Nigel Lindsay (Line of Duty) as Tom Kendricks, Tessa Wong (Strangers) as DC Chloe Tan and Daisy Waterstone (The Durrells) as Abigail Carey.

New additions this season include Joe Dempsie (Get Millie Black, Toxic Town, Game of Thrones), Andrew Buchan (Black Doves, Broadchurch, Better), Hugh Quarshie (Holby City, Stephen) and Amanda Drew (A Very British Scandal, The Gold, Gangs of London).

Ben Chanan says: “I am delighted to join up with Holliday Grainger, Lia Williams, Ben Miles, Ron Perlman, and all our brilliant cast on The Capture again, and to welcome the fantastic Killian Scott to the fold. Previous seasons have seen Holliday’s Rachel Carey investigate others as their lives fall apart. Most of all, I am excited that Series 3 puts Carey at the heart of the conspiracy.”

Holliday Grainger adds: “I’m thrilled to be joining The Capture team once more for series three. Ben Chanan’s scripts are as electrifying as ever and I’m excited to be stepping back into ‘Commander’ Rachel Carey’s world. (Spoiler alert!)”

Killian Scott says: “I think Ben has created something really special with The Capture, a modern espionage thriller that feels both authentic and immensely captivating. I feel incredibly lucky to be joining the team for season 3.”

The series is created and written by Ben Chanan, directed by Anthony Philipson, Johnny Allan and Chanan himself, with Derek Ritchie producing and also executive producing. Filming is taking place across the South East of England.

The Capture’ does not yet have a premiere date but will air on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in Spring 2026 in the UK. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
