Prime Video Orders ‘Fallout Shelter’ Unscripted Competition Series Inspired By The Fallout Universe

by Dave Elliott

Prime Video has officially ordered Fallout Shelter, a new unscripted competition series inspired by the iconic Fallout universe, marking the franchise’s latest expansion beyond traditional games and scripted television.

Before we go any further, it is worth addressing the wonderfully confusing elephant in the vault. Yes, this series is called ‘Fallout Shelter’. No, it is not directly based on the Fallout Shelter mobile game. That game is also based on Fallout. This show is based on Fallout. They are siblings, not twins. Clear as irradiated mud.

The 10-episode competition series is set inside Vault-Tec’s famously bomb-proof vaults and drops a group of contestants into a fully immersive, high-stakes environment shaped by Fallout’s dark humour, retro-futuristic aesthetic, and post-apocalyptic survival themes. Across a range of escalating challenges and strategic dilemmas, players must balance teamwork, morality, and survival instincts as they compete for safety, power, and a significant cash prize.

Rather than leaning purely on spectacle, the format aims to blend large-scale physical challenges with social and psychological gameplay, echoing the choice-driven storytelling that has defined Fallout for more than 25 years. Expect alliances, betrayals, and ethically murky decisions that would make Vault-Tec proud.

‘Fallout Shelter’ is produced by Studio Lambert in co-production with Kilter Films, and in association with Amazon MGM Studios and Bethesda Game Studios. Executive producers include Stephen Lambert, Tim Harcourt, Jack Burgess, Toni Ireland, Stephen Yemoh, Stephen Lovelock and Amina Badresingh for Studio Lambert, with Abi Lambrinos serving as executive in charge of production. Jonathan Nolan, Lisa Joy and Athena Wickham executive produce for Kilter Films, alongside James Altman and Todd Howard for Bethesda Game Studios.

The series will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide, joining the platform’s growing slate of premium unscripted entertainment and further broadening the Fallout universe for fans.

Casting is now open via the official production site, with hopeful contestants invited to test whether they have what it takes to survive life inside the vaults.

Fallout Shelter’ does not yet have a premiere date, but will air on Prime Video in the UK. If I want to keep track of this or any other shows, I can add them via our Never Miss system, and I’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
