Sky Reveals First Look At Ella Purnell Returning For ‘Sweetpea’ Season 2

by Dave Elliott

Sky has unveiled a first look at Sweetpea Season 2, with Ella Purnell (Fallout, Yellowjackets) back as Rhiannon Lewis, the quiet wallflower with a very deadly edge. The darkly comic thriller is set to return to Sky in 2026 as part of the broadcaster’s upcoming line-up of original drama.

The first season turned ‘Sweetpea’ into one of Sky’s most deliciously twisted dramas, balancing sharp comedy with plenty of blood-soaked chaos, and Season 2 sounds like it’s set to push Rhiannon even further. This time around, she’s juggling a new promotion, a rebound romance, and a copycat killer who could expose everything, while the body count keeps rising.

According to the synopsis, Rhiannon is also forced to confront a question hanging over the entire new run: was her ex AJ right all along, and is she really a monster?

Joining the cast for Season 2 is Rish Shah (Ms. Marvel, The Sweet East) as Rhiannon’s romantic interest Gabriel, alongside Tamsin Greig (Episodes, Friday Night Dinner) as AJ’s mother, Liv. Taj Atwal (Riot Women, Line of Duty) plays Freya, Rhiannon’s formidable new boss at the Carnsham Gazette, while Jenny Walser (Heartstopper, Star City) appears as Daisy, an adoring new friend.

They join returning cast members Jon Pointing (Big Boys, Run Away), Jeremy Swift (Ted Lasso, Downton Abbey), Leah Harvey (Foundation, The Scurry), Ingrid Oliver (The Thursday Murder Club, Doctor Who), Nitin Ganatra (Mr Bigstuff, Sexy Beast) and Alexandra Dowling (Emily, Game of Thrones).

‘Sweetpea’ is adapted from the novel by C.J. Skuse, with the series produced by See-Saw Films and fanboy in association with Sky Studios. Behind the scenes, Ella Purnell also serves as an executive producer alongside Ella Jones, with Patrick Walters, Helen Gregory, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman and Kirstie Swain also executive producing.

Given how well the first season mixed pitch-black humour with psychological thriller beats, Season 2 looks set to lean even harder into the chaos surrounding Rhiannon as her carefully managed double life starts to unravel.

Sweetpea’ Season 2 does not yet have a premiere date, but will air on Sky in the UK. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
