‘Spider-Noir’ Trailer Drops As Nicolas Cage Leads Stylish Marvel Series In Two Unique Versions

by Dave Elliott

Spider-Noir has finally unveiled its first full trailer, and it looks every bit as stylish and unusual as fans were hoping. The upcoming live-action Marvel series stars Nicolas Cage in his first leading TV role, bringing the shadowy, pulp-inspired Spider-Man Noir to life with a distinctive twist that lets viewers choose how they experience it.

Yes, really. For the first time, the series will be available in two formats: “Authentic Black & White” and “True-Hue Full Color.” It is a clever nod to the character’s comic book origins and classic film noir influences, and one that should make this stand out instantly from the ever-growing pile of superhero TV.

Set in 1930s New York, ‘Spider-Noir’ follows Ben Reilly, a down-on-his-luck private investigator who is forced to confront his past life as the city’s only masked hero. Expect a darker, more grounded take on the Spider-Man mythology, with a heavy noir tone running throughout.

The cast alongside Cage includes Lamorne Morris (New Girl), Li Jun Li (Babylon), Abraham Popoola (Slow Horses), Karen Rodriguez (Acapulco), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire), and Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin), with a sizeable supporting and guest cast rounding out the world.

Behind the camera, the show is in strong hands too. It is co-run by Oren Uziel (The Lost City) and Steve Lightfoot (The Punisher), with the first two episodes directed by Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag). The project also has serious Spider-Verse pedigree, developed alongside Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal, the team behind Into the Spider-Verse.

The trailer itself leans hard into the noir aesthetic, mixing smoky back alleys, vintage cars, and a weary detective vibe with bursts of superhero action. It is a tone we have not really seen explored in live-action Spider-Man before, and it gives the series a very different flavour compared to the brighter, more traditional Marvel outings.

There is also a nice sense that this is a character study as much as a superhero story. Ben Reilly is not your typical wisecracking Spidey. He is older, worn down, and carrying the weight of past mistakes, which should give Cage plenty to dig into.

With the option to watch in black and white or full colour, and a creative team that clearly understands what makes this corner of Marvel unique, ‘Spider-Noir’ could end up being one of the more interesting experiments in the current wave of comic book adaptations.

Spider-Noir‘ premieres Wednesday, 27th May 2026 on Prime Video. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
