‘The Boys’ Prequel ‘Vought Rising’ Reveals First Teaser As Prime Video Heads Back To The 1950s

by Dave Elliott

Prime Video has released the first teaser for Vought Rising, the highly anticipated prequel to ‘The Boys’, giving fans their first look at the twisted origins of Vought International.

Set in the 1950s, the new series dives into the early days of the corporation that would go on to become one of the most terrifyingly powerful forces in ‘The Boys’ universe. Given this franchise’s track record, we’re going to assume the phrase “simpler times” does not apply here…

The prequel stars Jensen Ackles (Supernatural) and Aya Cash (You’re the Worst), reprising their roles as Soldier Boy and Stormfront, with both also serving as producers on the series. The cast also includes Mason Dye (Stranger Things), Will Hochman (Blue Bloods), KiKi Layne (The Old Guard), Jorden Myrie (Mood), Nicolo Pasetti (The Law According to Lidia Poët), Elizabeth Posey (Euphoria), Ricky Staffieri (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), and Brian J. Smith (Sense8).

The teaser offers a first glimpse at the period-set story, as ‘Vought Rising’ explores how Vought International began building the brutal, glossy, propaganda-soaked machine that viewers know all too well from ‘The Boys’. The mothership series recently came to an end with its fifth and final season, but Prime Video clearly isn’t done poking around in the blood-soaked foundations of this universe just yet.

Behind the scenes, Paul Grellong serves as showrunner and executive producer. Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Ori Marmur, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, Michaela Starr, and Jim Barnes also executive produce.

The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, in association with Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures, and Original Film.

Vought Rising’ premieres in 2027 exclusively on Prime Video. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
