Apple TV+ has confirmed what fans were hoping for. ‘Slow Horses‘, the utterly brilliant, darkly funny, and relentlessly gripping spy drama, is returning for a 7th Season. Starring the phenomenal Sir Gary Oldman (Darkest Hour, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) as the gloriously grumpy Jackson Lamb, the series continues to prove it’s not just one of the best shows on Apple TV+, but one of the best shows on television, full stop.
Season seven will be adapted from “Bad Actors”, the next novel in Mick Herron’s award-winning “Slough House” series. It’s set to be another six-episode dose of top-tier British espionage chaos, blending razor-sharp writing, pitch-black humour, and nail-biting suspense in the way only Slow Horses can.
If you’re not already watching (…seriously, what are you doing?..) the show follows a team of MI5 screw-ups exiled to the bureaucratic wasteland of Slough House, led by Oldman’s Lamb, a flatulent, cantankerous spymaster who may look like he rolled out of a bin, but whose instincts and intelligence remain razor-sharp. Beneath the whisky breath and insults is a man who still deeply believes in protecting his country, even if he’s constantly surrounded by incompetents and office politics.
Season seven sees Lamb and the Slow Horses tackling a mole within the British government. It’s a threat that could bring the entire system crashing down if they don’t act fast (or at least faster than usual). Expect more high-stakes blunders, savage one-liners, and unexpected twists as the team once again fumble their way to success.
“‘Slow Horses’ has won fans all over the world with its unique mix of self-deprecating British humour and high-octane action,” said Jay Hunt, Creative Director, Europe, Apple TV+. “I’m delighted viewers will have another season to enjoy Gary’s magnificent performance as Jackson Lamb alongside the Slow Horses’ slightly inept spycraft.”
And it’s not just us who love it. The series has racked up awards and critical acclaim across the board. Seasons three and four are Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with two seasons achieving a rare perfect 100% critics’ score. It was also named the number one series of 2024, and season three earned nine Emmy nominations, including a win for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series.
Season seven will once again be produced by See-Saw Films, with Ben Vanstone adapting the script and serving as executive producer, alongside Robert McKillop, who will direct. Returning executive producers include Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Dan Hassid, Mick Herron, Gail Mutrux, Douglas Urbanski, and Gary Oldman.
The first four seasons of ‘Slow Horses‘ are streaming now on Apple TV+, with Season 5 set to premiere on Wednesday, 24th September 2025.
