‘The Vampire Lestat’ Gets July UK Premiere On BBC Two & iPlayer

by Dave Elliott

The Brat Prince is finally heading back to UK screens, as the BBC has confirmed The Vampire Lestat will premiere later this month on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.

The series is technically the third season of Interview with the Vampire, although it arrives with a new title, a new perspective, and considerably more eyeliner. The opening episode will air on BBC Two, with the complete season landing on BBC iPlayer shortly afterwards.

Based on Anne Rice’s novel The Vampire Lestat, the new season shifts the focus firmly onto Sam Reid (The Newsreader) as Lestat de Lioncourt. Following the publication of Daniel Molloy’s explosive interview with Louis, Lestat reinvents himself as the world’s first immortal rock star and heads out on an electric multi-city tour.

However, becoming a global celebrity is rarely straightforward, particularly when you have revealed the existence of vampires to the wider world. As Lestat’s band grows in popularity, so does his influence over humans and vampires alike, leaving others to contend with his increasing power and the Great Conversion, an unnatural surge in the vampire population.

The season also sees Lestat haunted by “muses” from his wild and rebellious past, while his music gives him another way to tell his own version of events.

Jacob Anderson (Game of Thrones) returns as Louis de Pointe du Lac, alongside Assad Zaman (Hotel Portofino) as Armand, Eric Bogosian (Succession) as Daniel Molloy, Delainey Hayles (Too Close) as Claudia, and Jennifer Ehle (1923) as Gabrielle.

The rock-heavy season features more than 20 original songs written by composer Daniel Hart, including the singles ‘Long Face’ and ‘All Fall Down’, both performed by Reid as Lestat.

Commenting on ‘All Fall Down’, Daniel Hart said:

“‘All Fall Down’ is both the title track for the new season and the idea for a song by the Vampire Lestat from early in the band’s life. Much like ‘Long face’, it feels heavily influenced by Bowie, T. Rex, and other 70s rock’n’roll stars who were looking back to the blues as much as they were looking up to the stars for inspiration. ‘All Fall Down’ marks a time in this vampire band’s life when they were still figuring out exactly what their sound was, and before Lestat himself started to change personas and explore other musical styles. At the same time, with ‘All Fall Down’, we tried to capture the overall feeling of this new Lestat we get to know better and better throughout the season: more wild, more raw, more self-deprecatingly funny than ever before.”

Lestat himself offered a somewhat less generous review:

“‘All Fall Down’ is mercifully only 68 seconds long. That’s 54 seconds more Daniel Hart than anyone should suffer. I like the harmonies on the chorus. I did those.”

The new season has already been extremely well received following its US launch, earning a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes from 72 critic reviews at the time of writing.

The first two seasons of ‘Interview with the Vampire’ are available to stream now on BBC iPlayer and Netflix in the UK.

The Vampire Lestat premieres Tuesday, 28th July 2026 at 9pm on BBC Two, with the complete season available shortly afterwards on BBC iPlayer.
