by Dave Elliott

ITV has revealed a huge line-up of drama, comedy, entertainment, and factual programming for Autumn 2025, promising plenty to keep viewers gripped through the season. From hard-hitting new dramas and returning fan favourites to primetime entertainment juggernauts, here’s what’s coming to ITV1, ITV2, and ITVX.

Drama Highlights (ITV1 & ITVX)

‘Coldwater’ (New)

Andrew Lincoln (The Walking Dead, Teachers) leads this new series as John, a repressed and depressed stay-at-home dad who moves his family to the quiet Scottish village of Coldwater in search of peace, but finds anything but. After a playground confrontation sparks a midlife crisis, John becomes entangled with his charming but mysterious neighbour Tommy (Ewen Bremner) and his vicar wife Rebecca (Eve Myles). John’s fascination with Tommy grows even as his wife Fiona (Indira Varma) despises him, and when long-repressed rage boils over, John ends up indebted to Tommy — unaware of the horrifying secrets his new friend is hiding.

‘I Fought the Law’ (New)

In this powerful true-story drama, Sheridan Smith stars as Ann Ming, a grieving mother who fought an extraordinary 15-year battle to change the double jeopardy law after her daughter Julie was brutally murdered. Based on Ming’s book For The Love of Julie, the series chronicles her fight against the Criminal Justice System, government ministers, and some of the country’s most formidable legal minds. With Daniel York Loh as Ann’s husband Charlie and Enzo Cilenti as DS Mark Braithwaite, this moving and defiant drama lays bare the personal cost of one woman’s quest for justice. A companion documentary, I Fought the Law: The Ann Ming Story, will also air on ITVX and ITV1.

‘Trigger Point’, Season 3 (Returning)

Vicky McClure returns as bomb disposal expert Lana Washington in the third series of ITV’s hit thriller. This season sees Lana and the EXPO team working with the Police Counterterrorism Unit to track down a bomber with a chilling vendetta. With new and returning characters — including Eric Shango, Nabil Elouahabi, Natalie Simpson, Maanuv Thiara, and guest star Jason Flemyng — the team races against time as the stakes grow higher with every device.

‘Frauds’ (New)

Suranne Jones and Jodie Whittaker star in this stylish heist thriller as Bert and Sam, two former con artists whose paths collide in Southern Spain after a decade apart. While Sam has built a quiet new life, Bert is freshly released from prison and determined to pull off one last big score — a multi-million-pound art heist. But their toxic friendship, trust issues, and lingering betrayals threaten to derail everything. Created by Jones and Anne-Marie O’Connor, this tense and twisty series asks: how far will they go for one final payday?

‘The Hack’ (New)

Written by Jack Thorne (His Dark Materials, Help), this gripping new drama interweaves the investigation into the 2007 murder of private investigator Daniel Morgan with the unravelling of the News of the World phone-hacking scandal. David Tennant stars as journalist Nick Davies, whose reporting exposed the hacking scandal, while Robert Carlyle portrays DCS Dave Cook, leading the Morgan case, and Toby Jones plays former Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger. Directed by Lewis Arnold (Time, Sherwood), this is one of ITV’s most anticipated dramas of the year.

‘Ridley’, Season 2 (Returning)

Adrian Dunbar is back as Alex Ridley in a new four-part series. Now working as a consultant alongside his former protégé DI Carol Farman (Bronagh Waugh), Ridley finds himself investigating a violent jewellery heist with deadly consequences. With returning cast members and new faces including John Michie as rival suitor Harry Bentham, this latest chapter blends complex cases with Ridley’s personal entanglements.

Comedy (ITV1 & ITVX)

‘Changing Ends’, Season 3 (Returning)

After becoming ITV’s biggest new half-hour comedy launch in 2024, Alan Carr’s semi-autobiographical sitcom returns for a third series. Set in 1989, a teenage Alan navigates crushes, adolescent awkwardness, and growing up in a football-mad household as his dad Graham wrestles with pressure as the Cobblers’ manager. Packed with heart and humour, the new series builds on the show’s award-winning run, which has earned BAFTA and RTS acclaim and over 14 million streams on ITVX.

‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ (Returning), ‘Big Brother’ (Returning, ITV2 & ITVX), ‘Olivia Attwood’s Bad Boyfriends’ (Returning), ‘You Bet! ITVX Exclusives

Streaming gets even stronger this autumn with a mix of bold dramas, punchy comedies, and gripping documentaries dropping exclusively on ITVX.

‘Universal Basic Guys’, Season 1 (New)

This animated comedy from Adam and Craig Malamut (Game of Zones) follows brothers Mark and Hank Hoagies, who lose their jobs to automation but gain $3,000 a month through a basic income programme. With plenty of time and cash, they search for purpose in a world that doesn’t really need them anymore.

‘Small Achievable Goals’ (New)

Jennifer Whalen and Meredith MacNeill star as Julie and Kris, two menopausal women reluctantly making a podcast together while dealing with health challenges, relationship drama, and workplace politics. A sharp, funny, and refreshing look at transformation in midlife.

‘One Night’ (New to ITVX)

Filmed in Australia, this powerful drama stars Jodie Whittaker, Yael Stone, and Nicole da Silva as three estranged friends whose lives are upended when one writes a book exposing their shared past. Old traumas resurface in their small coastal community as those implicated in their story try to silence them. Previously aired in the UK on Paramount+.

‘DC’s Stargirl’, ‘Batwoman’, and ‘Marvel’s Runaways’ – All Seasons (New to ITVX)

A trio of superhero dramas land on ITVX. ‘Stargirl’ follows high schooler Courtney Whitmore as she revives the Justice Society of America, ‘Batwoman’ introduces Gotham’s new masked defender Kate Kane, and ‘Runaways’ tells the story of teens who discover their parents are part of a criminal organisation. Whilst these have mostly aired on UK TV before, this is a UK premiere for the 3rd and final season of ‘Stargirl’.

‘Unspeakable’ (New)

Based on two non-fiction books, this gripping miniseries examines the devastating HIV and Hepatitis C tainted blood scandal in Canada during the 1980s, which led to thousands of unnecessary infections, a landmark federal inquiry, and a multi-billion-dollar settlement for victims.

‘Borderline’ (New)

Set in Ireland, this detective drama pairs chalk-and-cheese investigators Philip Boyd and Aoife Regan (Eoin Macken and Amy De Bhrun), who are forced to work together on a high-stakes case, transforming their initial friction into a formidable crime-fighting partnership.

‘Jonestown: Terror in the Jungle’ (New to ITVX)

This chilling docuseries charts the transformation of preacher Jim Jones from civil rights leader to cult leader, culminating in the Jonestown massacre — the largest loss of American lives prior to 9/11. Featuring archival footage, declassified documents, and survivor accounts, it offers the definitive account of the tragedy. Previously aired on BBC Four.

‘Firebite’ (New)

From Indigenous Australian filmmaker Warwick Thornton, this dark fantasy series follows Tyson and Shanika as they battle a centuries-old vampire colony in a remote desert mining town — the last stronghold of creatures sent to Australia by Britain in 1788 to eradicate Indigenous populations.

‘The Red Road’ (New to ITVX)

Starring Martin Henderson and Jason Momoa, this tense thriller explores the uneasy alliance between a struggling small-town sheriff and a dangerous Native American ex-con as tragedy and past secrets threaten to destroy both their worlds. Previously aired on Prime Video.

‘Bay of Fires’, Season 2 (Returning)

In its second season, Stella (played by Marta Dusseldorp) finds temporary peace in the chaotic coastal town of Mystery Bay — until a drug lord, a doomsday cult, and the resurrection of old enemies pull her back into a spiral of danger, forcing her to confront whether she is the source of her own nightmare.

Just to add that both Unspeakable and Borderline are also “new to ITVX” rather than competely new to the UK. Prime Video had Unspeakable way back in March 2020 & Borderline came out on MGM+ sometime around last September.

The second season of Ridley has been shown abroad (similar as to what happens with Midsomer Murders)!
